Creating a Fun Triceratops Puppet: Step-by-Step Guide
Gather Your Materials
Before we start making our Triceratops puppet, let’s gather what we need. Here’s a list of materials:
- Colored felt (green, yellow, black)
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Cardboard
- Markers
- Googly eyes
- Paper towel tube
Make the Head
Let’s make the head first. Take a piece of cardboard. Cut out a large triangle. This will be the basic shape of the Triceratops’s head.
Now, use your colored felt. Cut out two smaller triangles. These will be the frills of the Triceratops. Glue them onto the top of the head.
“This is looking good!” you might say. “But we need more details.”
Cut out a small snout from the yellow felt. Glue it on. Add two black felt circles for nostrils and place googly eyes above the snout.
Create the Body
Next is the body. Use the cardboard again. Cut out an oval shape for the body.
Cover this oval with green felt. Secure it with the glue. “I can’t wait to see how this looks!” you’ll think excitedly.
Design the Legs
Now, we need legs! Cut out four rectangles from the cardboard. These will be the legs. Cover them with felt as well. You can use green here, too.

Glue the legs to the bottom of the body. Make sure they are sturdy. You want your puppet to stand strong.
Add the Tail
Every dinosaur needs a tail! Cut out a long rectangle from the cardboard for a tail. Then, cover it with felt and glue it to the back of the body. "Look, Mom! A tail!" you may shout with joy.
Put It All Together
Now we will join all parts. Take your paper towel tube. This will be the puppet's handle. Glue the head to one end of the tube and the body to the other. This makes it easy to hold and move.
Decorate Your Puppet
Your Triceratops needs some fun decorations! Use markers to add patterns or spots on the body and tail. “I love how colorful it is!” you might exclaim.
Time to Play!
Your puppet is ready! It’s now time to have some fun. Use the tube to make it stomp around. You can even create a story!
Your friends might say, “What’s his name?” and you can shout, “He’s Tricky the Triceratops!”
